Branches

The branches widget lets you see all the branches in your repositories in one place.

Admittedly this isn't the most useful widget you can put in a Portal, but... it's something.

Sometimes you just want to keep tabs on your branches.

Knowing which branches are getting across multiple repos helps keep you knowing what's going on.

Often your team will work on feature branches and push to em throughout the day; now you can know what's getting created and updated without having to go looking.

Add Widget Branches

Knowing which branch was updated most recently (they're sorted descending by updated_at time) can be quite useful.

If main pops up to the top, you know someone just merged a PR (or someone yolo pushed to production).

This is useful to know if anybody is even working at all to be honest. If no branches get updated, the timestamps will start to get embarrassingly old.

Branches not updated

Whenever your team creates new branches and starts talking about em, you'll already know what's going on.

They'll say "hey, it's not working for me", and you'll be all like - not having to ask "what branch you on"... and stuff.

But seriously though, this type of widget is good for seeing when new work is getting started.

Branches widget

One of my personal favorite is that you can click on a branch directly in your Portal and it'll open up a new tab to the source control of that branch.

No more having to manually type them in or navigate around to find stuff. Just click.
